Early in her career Jessamy studied art at the Savannah College of Art and Design. After receiving her Psychology Bachelor of Art degree, Ms. Cauthen managed a group home for mentally disabled adults, where she sharpened her use and understanding of verbal and nonverbal communication. She used her skills to work with and advocate for her clients and staff members, resulting in excellent outcomes such as low staff turnover and increased client independence.

Understanding the power of communication and wanting a new challenge, Jessamy decided to pursue another area of behavior and communication and decided to attend Law School. During her time at Florida State School of Law Ms. Cauthen worked at the Children’s Advocacy Clinic doing dependency and healthcare access cases. She also appeared in court as a Certified Legal Intern for the both the 2nd circuit Office of the State Attorney and the 2nd circuit Office of the Public Defender. Ms. Cauthen served as Vice President for the Dispute Resolution Society.
